The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) recently launched the updated version of its MD Practice Driving Test mobile app.

The free app is designed to test future drivers on their knowledge through a series of 25 random questions in English or Spanish. Users can post scores on social media and can take the test as often as they like.

The app, which is available in the iTunes and Google Play stores as well as the state’s website, was updated for iOS 11.

Other updates include revised study questions that reference the driving manual, a display with the percentage of questions answered correctly, a score log with time and date completed, enhanced navigation and graphics, and new MDOT MVA branding.

“This app is another example of MDOT MVA using technology to bring premier service to our customers,” Christine Nizer, MDOT MVA administrator, said. “We have made improvements to the app that will provide users with an even better experience as they prepare for their driving test or brush up on driver safety information.”

The app was originally launched in 2011 and has been downloaded more than a million times. It was designed by NIC Maryland which handles the state’s websites through a self-funded digital government services contract.
