The West Virginia Department of Transportation recently opened a 11-mile, four-lane section of Corridor H starting in Kerens in Randolph County and extending toward Parsons in Tucker County.
The new section will improve safety and shorten travel time between Randolph and Tucker counties. It is part of a larger West Virginia Division of Highways strategy that will connect Interstate 79 to the Virginia state line. The department has invested nearly $2 billion so far. Currently, 19.6 miles are either in active construction or in development. Corridor H will be completed in phases through 2034.
“Today’s ribbon cutting is about far more than opening another stretch of highway,” Gov. Patrick Morrisey said. “Every mile of Corridor H removes another barrier, connects another community, and brings new opportunity within reach. This project is helping shrink the distance between our communities while creating a stronger, safer, and more prosperous future for the people of West Virginia.
“Today’s opening is an important milestone, but there’s still work ahead. We’ll keep moving forward mile by mile until Corridor H is complete, because every new section brings communities closer together and creates new opportunities for the people of West Virginia.”
Transportation Secretary Todd Rumbaugh and state and local officials also attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
