FAA awards more than $523M in grants to airports nationwide

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently awarded 332 grants totaling more than $523 million to airports in 43 states through the Airport Infrastructure Grants program.

The program funds apron and taxiway improvements, baggage system upgrades, roadway and access improvements, runway and taxiway rehabilitation, sustainability projects, terminal improvements, and other safety-related infrastructure needs as well as airport planning and development.

“American families deserve state-of-the-art runways and infrastructure that will make their travel experience safer, smoother, and more efficient,” Sean Duffy U.S. transportation secretary, said.

“The FAA is moving at record speed to deliver these investments to airports nationwide,” FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said. “These projects will improve reliability across the aviation system while helping airports meet growing demand.”

Awardees include:

  • Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was awarded $70 million for runway rehabilitation.
  • Charlotte/Douglas International Airport was awarded $46.9 million for apron expansion.
  • Miami International Airport was awarded $41.9 million for terminal reconstruction and fuel farm expansion.
  • Syracuse Hancock International Airport was awarded $18.7 million for deicing pad expansion and reconstruction.
  • Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport was awarded $18.6 million for new taxi lane construction.
  • Philadelphia International Airport was awarded $18 million for taxiway pavement reconstruction.
  • Orlando Sanford International Airport was awarded $16.2 million for taxiway extension.
