The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) recently published a document outlining the future of the state’s transportation system. The Connecticut 2055 Long-Range Transportation Plan highlights the goals, performance measures, policies and investments needed over the next 30 years and will serve as a strategic blueprint.
The plan contains five goals: safety for all users, connected communities, innovative future, resilient and sustainable infrastructure, and a vibrant economy.
“Connecticut 2055 is a forward-thinking plan that will drive economic growth, connect our communities, and improve lives through an integrated multimodal transportation system,” CTDOT Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto said. “The final plan reflects years of collaboration with residents, stakeholders, and partners across the state, and positions Connecticut to meet the transportation needs of today and opportunities of the future.”
The agency aims to provide a modern, reliable and accessible transportation system where every person can travel safely. The goal is to eliminate serious injuries and fatalities. A multimodal transportation network will connect riders to where they need and want to go. Riders will benefit from the adoption of emerging technology and from a transportation network that is resilient and sustainable through planning, design, construction and operations. Communities will thrive from the seamless movement of people and goods.
