The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) launched a systemwide service change on Sunday. The change updated routes and schedules, provided new digital tools for riders and introduced the Maryland Parkway bus rapid transit (BRT) RED LINE.
The changes are part of an effort to provide safer, more reliable transportation and make it easier for riders to navigate the region and access information.
“As Southern Nevada continues to grow, we’re focused on delivering a better transit experience for every rider,” RTC CEO M.J. Maynard-Carey said. “Even as we navigate ongoing transit funding challenges, these cost-neutral service improvements reflect our commitment to customer service and are being delivered in coordination with the launch of our federally funded RED LINE bus rapid transit service.”
The RED LINE replaces Route 109 and serves downtown Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Medical District with connections to Bonneville Transit Center, South Strip Transit Terminal and Harry Reid International Airport. It features dedicated transit lanes and zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell, high-capacity buses. Stations feature additional seating, shade and passenger amenities.
RTC introduced the rideRTC See & Say reporting platform that allows riders to easily report suspicious behavior, security or maintenance concerns. It replaces the existing Transit Watch application which will end on Sept. 1.
