Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott, Ariz., campus recently signed an agreement to become part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Enhanced Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) program.

Embry-Riddle is the ninth school to join the program and first in Arizona.

The program allows schools nationwide to offer the same curriculum and advanced training technology that is offered at the FAA’s Air Traffic Controller Academy in Oklahoma City.

AT-CTI students must pass the Air Traffic Skills Assessment, pass performance verifications to receive an official endorsement certificate, and meet the FAA’s medical and security requirements. Once completed, graduates report to an FAA facility to begin training.

“Having both Air Traffic Management programs at Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach and Prescott campuses approved for this critical FAA initiative to strengthen the air traffic controller pipeline demonstrates the high level of training and education Embry-Riddle provides,” Embry-Riddle President Dr. P. Barry Butler said. “We are proud to see our highly skilled, professional graduates immediately join the controller ranks for training to keep air traffic moving safely and efficiently.”

Schools interested in becoming an E-CTI school can submit applications online.

The FAA also offers hiring opportunities year-round for experienced controllers from the military and private industry.
