Norfolk Southern Corp. and Missouri-based Jaguar Transport Holdings, a transportation and logistics company, recently partnered to provide service in Doraville, Ga.
The Doraville rail corridor serves industrial and logistics businesses in northeast metro Atlanta as well as rail-adjacent customers and regional shippers.
Under the terms of the agreement announced on March 31, Norfolk Southern will lease its Doraville rail corridor and transload terminal to Jaguar. Jaguar will operate local switching service and invest in targeted infrastructure upgrades to expand yard capacity and support future growth.
“This deal will drive freight growth, expand capacity and improve local service in metro Atlanta, a model that can be replicated across the network,” Stefan Loeb, Norfolk Southern vice president of business development and first- and final-mile markets, said. “We value Jaguar’s experience in local operations and proven track record as we continue to view short lines as an important part of our growth strategy.”
Norfolk Southern expects the deal will enable new industrial and warehouse development in the corridor, support higher-margin freight and improve interchange fluidity.
The agreement is part of Norfolk Southern’s strategy to use targeted partnerships to open new markets, improve local service and extend network reach.
Jaguar operates 13 short line railroads and multiple other rail-served sites throughout the United States.
