In 2025, customers of Texas-based BNSF Railway, a freight transportation company, invested more than $5.3 billion to complete 117 rail-served projects, the highest number in the last six years, creating more than 1,200 jobs in the industrial, agricultural and consumer markets, expanding production capacity, strengthening supply chains and supporting long-term economic growth.
“The record number of projects completed in 2025 reflects strong customer investment and continued confidence in rail-supported growth,” Tom Williams, BNSF executive vice president and chief marketing officer, said. “At the same time, expanding our portfolio of rail-ready sites strengthens the pipeline for future development, helping customers access markets, expand operations and execute long-term growth strategies with greater certainty.”
BNSF has been focused on supporting sustainable growth across its network and creating growth through strategic partnerships.
The company’s latest Certified Site is located approximately 20 minutes north of Mobile, Ala., and is near the Port of Mobile and major interstate corridors. It is the first BNSF Certified Site to be served by Genesee & Wyoming’s Alabama & Gulf Coast Railway, a BNSF Shortline Select Partner.
Certified sites meet rigorous readiness standards, such as rail service capability and prequalified infrastructure, and help reduce development risk and accelerate project timelines.
