The Federal Aviation Administration recently awarded $7.4 million to Morristown Municipal and Atlantic City International Airports in New Jersey.

“These important federal investments not only help ensure the safety of air travelers but stimulate our local economy and create new jobs,” Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) said. “Modernizing our aging infrastructure helps keep our state economically competitive, and is a top priority as I fight for New Jersey in Washington.”

The bulk of the grant, $7.02 million, will be used for runway safety improvements at Morristown Municipal Airport. The facility is a general aviation reliever airport.

The remainder of the grant, $400,456, will be used for the construction of a deicing facility at Atlantic City International Airport.

Last month, the airport also received an $8 million grant for the deicing facility.

The airport offers commercial air travel to support commerce and tourism.

Ocean County Airport in Bayville also received a grant last month for $400,000 to be used for the replacement of the airport’s current beacon.

The airport is a general aviation facility and also serves emergency aircraft.

The grant investments help to restore the state’s aging infrastructure, keeps travelers safe and benefits the economy, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) said.
