Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) recently appointed Mamatha Sparks to serve as its next chief audit officer.
Sparks has more than 20 years of public accounting, government auditing, and risk management experience and has led complex performance audits and process improvements. In her new role, she will guide audit processes and create effective departmental strategies that will modernize the agency and increase transparency.
She previously held various leadership roles with the City of Dallas Office of the City Auditor and oversaw complex audits involving information technology, procurement and contract administration, public safety, and revenue.
“The team at DART are thrilled to welcome Mamatha Sparks,” Randall Bryant, DART Board of Directors chairman, said. “She brings a wealth of experience to this role with a track record of success; which is critical to enhance DART’s goal of building a nimble organization with a focus on operational integrity. Her leadership will not only provide decisive oversight on our internal and external processes but also amplify DART’s impact on the region.”
Sparks succeeds Chris Koloc who retired earlier this year after nearly 20 years with DART.
Dallas Area Rapid Transit moves more than 171,000 passengers daily across a 700-square-mile, 12-city region via light rail, regional rail, bus routes and paratransit.
