BNSF Railway announced it would offer more frequent intermodal service between Phoenix and the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The new offering will provide customers with faster, more economical and reliable transportation solutions for freight, officials said, as it moved to provide more efficient rail alternatives to highway freight between two of the Southwest’s fastest growing markets.
“We’re seeing more customers looking for capacity solutions as we head into the domestic peak shipping season, while continuing to manage their transportation costs,” said BNSF Group Vice President of Consumer Products Jon Gabriel. “This expanded service responds to rapidly changing market conditions and offers a solution that combines reliable transit, access to key markets and the advantages of intermodal transportation.”
Officials said the enhanced service will support conversion of over-the-road freight to rail by providing Phoenix to North Texas in just over three days, while leveraging the efficiency, capacity and reach of BNSF’s intermodal network. The expanded service will run six days a week to meet increased customer demand, officials said.
“As freight capacity and demand continue to evolve, we remain focused on investing in solutions that help customers grow with BNSF,” Gabriel said. “The Phoenix and North Texas markets represent significant opportunities for shippers, and this service expansion is another step toward providing the infrastructure and transportation solutions needed to support that growth.”
This service utilizes the Alliance Intermodal Facility in North Texas, which offers customers access to a robust transportation ecosystem, warehouse and distribution capacity, and connectivity to major consumer markets across the United States. The expanded offering also lays the groundwork for future growth and expanded capacity in Arizona, officials said. Construction is already underway for BNSF’s second intermodal facility in Phoenix.
