Texas-based BNSF Railway, a freight transportation company, recently partnered with Spearpoint Logistics, a company operating a warehouse adjacent to the BNSF Alliance Intermodal terminal in Fort Worth, Texas, to establish operations at Barstow International Gateway (BIG), BNSF’s intermodal facility in Southern California.

Under the terms of the partnership, the companies will provide customers moving freight from Asia and Mexico across North America with additional supply chain options such as warehousing, distribution and brokerage services.

“The Barstow International Gateway creates a powerful inland logistics platform that will help customers move freight more efficiently from the ports to destinations across the country,” Spearpoint Logistics CEO Richard Miller said. “By combining Spearpoint’s expertise with BNSF’s rail network, we will create a seamless flow of goods from Asia and Mexico into inland markets. BIG gives customers greater flexibility, faster freight conversion, improved inventory positioning and access to a world-class logistics ecosystem.”

The partnership also supports BNSF’s plan to position BIG as a premier logistics hub that links international trade flows with inland markets while improving service, flexibility and supply chain performance. BIG was designed to enable freight arriving through Southern California to move more efficiently via rail through BNSF’s network and relieve highway congestion.
