The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recently awarded Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year 2026 Annual Budget and 20-Year Financial Plan.

The award honors the highest principles of governmental budgeting. The agency’s budget document was required to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines and demonstrate excellence as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications tool.

“The budget document excels in clarity and accessibility, making complex financial data comprehensible to the average reader,” a GFOA reviewer said. “The layout is visually appealing and consistent, enhancing the overall reading experience. It’s evident that the budget has been thoughtfully designed with the reader’s needs in mind, providing essential information in an organized and intuitive manner.”

There are more than 1,900 participants in the Budget Awards Program.

“This recognition highlights DART’s continued focus on disciplined financial planning and long-term sustainability,” Jamie Adelman, DART’s chief financial officer, said. “Our FY 2026 Budget and 20-Year Financial Plan ensure we are making strategic, responsible decisions that support both current operations and future financial stability.”
