Alberta-based Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) recently announced that it set a record for August for transporting Canadian grain and grain products. The August record covers the first four weeks of the 2026-2027 crop year.
In August, the railroad moved 2.54 million metric tons and 26,051 carloads. The previous record was set in August 2020. CPKC’s U.S. and Canada network also set a combined monthly tonnage record for grain movements, moving 4.86 metric tons and 50,396 carloads.
CPKC released its 2026-2027 Grain Service Outlook Report in July, outlining how it plans to provide grain customers industry-leading safe and reliable service throughout the 2026-2027 crop year.
For the 2025-2026 crop year, CPKC set an annual record for transporting Canadian grain and grain products, and annual volume exceeded the previous record set in the 2020–2021 crop year. The railroad moved 30.66 metric tons and set records in January, February, April, May and June.
Canadian Pacific Kansas City is the only single-line transnational railway linking Canada, the United States and Mexico. Its approximately 20,000 route miles network provides customers access to major ports from Vancouver to Atlantic Canada and from the Gulf Coast to Lázaro Cárdenas, Mexico.
