Leaders from aviation safety unions throughout the globe launched the Global Air Traffic Controllers Alliance March 6 at the World Air Traffic Management (ATM) Congress 2018 in Madrid.

The alliance will work together to raise important safety issues to a global audience, and to meet both individual and shared challenges.

The alliance members are the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) in the United States, Canadian Air Traffic Control Association, Prospect Air Traffic Controller’s Branch in the United Kingdom, Civil Air Traffic Control Australia, New Zealand Air Line Pilots’ Association, and Unión Sindical de Controladores Aéreos in Spain.

“By forming partnerships and alliances with organizations that provide air traffic control services, with air traffic industry partners and other stakeholders, we’re helping to ensure NATCA has a seat at every table where issues vital to our profession are being discussed,” NATCA President Paul Rinaldi said.

Conferences were also held at the congress to discuss autonomous operations, and partnerships and alliances in the ATM industry.

The congress featured 237 exhibitors, more than 100 conferences, networking, contract closures, and product demonstrations.

The Congress closes today. It is operated by the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation in partnership with the Air Traffic Control Association.
