The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently awarded $76.1 million in Airport Infrastructure Grants program grants to 45 airport-related infrastructure projects in 22 states.

“Millions of Americans fly every day, and it’s important that our nation’s airports be equipped to handle such a volume of passengers,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said. “The grants we’re announcing today will make key improvements to ensure passengers move safely and efficiently through our airports—and is another example of the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to modernizing our nation’s aviation systems.”

Among the locations receiving funding, Colorado Springs Airport was awarded $6.4 million to rehabilitate an existing terminal building to accommodate a 14,000-square-foot Federal Inspection Service facility. Improvements include meeting current Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, increasing energy efficiency, and rehabilitation space reconfiguration.

Melbourne Orlando International Airport was awarded $3 million to fund the first phase of the terminal building rehabilitation. Phase one is the installation of a new baggage system.

South Bend International Airport was awarded $1.8 million to reconstruct 8,500 feet of Taxiway B pavement. The work will correct the Taxiway B alignment geometry to meet FAA design standards.

Easton Airport in Maryland was awarded $2.4 million to improve the Runway 22 safety area. The funding will support construction site preparation.
