The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) recently launched the 2024 construction season.

Projects include bridge maintenance, the implementation of advanced traffic management systems, and road repairs and are designed to address the state’s growing population and the safe movement of goods and people across the state.

The agency’s largest project is the expansion of Interstate 80 from Lincoln to Pleasant Dale.

I-80 connects the east and west coasts. By expanding the Lincoln to Pleasant Dale segment, NDOT expects to reduce congestion, improve safety, and foster economic prosperity.

The agency also expects that expansion will reducing the risk of accidents and improve travel times.

Work will begin this spring and end in 2026.

“At the Nebraska Department of Transportation, we are dedicated to creating a transportation network that not only meets the needs of our communities but also improves their quality of life,’ Transportation Director Vicki Kramer said. “Years of planning and investment have gotten us to today, where we continue our commitment to expanding I-80 west. We believe that by working together with our partners, we can build a better and safer future for all who call Nebraska home.”

NDOT will provide updates on its website and social media platforms.
