Amtrak recently awarded Calgary-based CPKC with the Best Host Railroad award, which is based on host responsible delays per 10,000 train miles, a measure of a host railroad’s efficiency and reliability.
This is the 10th consecutive year CPKC earned the industry-leading recognition. It reflects consistent operational excellence executed by railroaders at CPKC’s U.S. Operations Center (USOC) in Kansas City, Mo.
“We are thrilled to receive Amtrak’s Best Host Railroad award for the 10th consecutive year, an incredible achievement for our team of railroaders who continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to operational excellence and high performance,” Tony Wick, CPKC general manager transportation, said.
Amtrak officials visited USOC on July 24 to present a plaque and thank CPKC employees.
“We appreciate what you do to keep Amtrak trains on time,” Tamara Noel, Amtrak assistant vice president, host railroads, said. “Your commitment and attention to detail are a part of our success.”
Amtrak’s Host Railroad Report Card ranks freight railroads based on their ability to keep Amtrak intercity passenger trains running on time. CPKC hosts portions of five Amtrak services: The Adirondack two times daily between New York City and Montreal, the Empire Builder and Borealis four times daily between Minneapolis and Chicago, the Ethan Allen Express two times daily between New York City and Burlington, Vt., and the Hiawatha Service 12 times daily between Milwaukee and Chicago.
