Delta, airline partners to serve fast-growing Indian economy

Delta Airlines announced it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IndiGo, Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic to build a partnership connecting India with Europe and North America.

One of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets, India is at of the collaboration effort between the group. Linking IndiGo’s domestic network in that country with Delta’s North American presence, and Air France-KLM’s and Virgin Atlantic’s reach in the transatlantic sector, will offer travelers more access, smoother journeys and a more consistent experience, officials said.

“This agreement is another example of our commitment to making travel more connected, more inclusive and more accessible,” Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines, said. “Combining our strengths with those of IndiGo, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic, will enable us to offer unparalleled connectivity and convenience, ensuring that our customers enjoy the highest standards of service and reliability across the globe. We look forward to restarting Delta’s direct service from the U.S. to India in the near future.”

The partnership will link dozens of cities in the U.S., Canada, Europe and India, officials said. The goal of the partnership is to meet rising demand while setting new connectivity and cooperation standards within the industry.
