SMC Global acquires Union Pacific Railroad tracks

On Thursday, SMC Global announced it had acquired a half-mile stretch of Union Pacific’s railway in Kansas City.

The railway in the Fairfax District of Kansas City runs behind SMC Global location in Kansas City. The company said it was working to assess the railway’s capabilities and any property restriction. Kevin Huber, founder and COO of SMC Global, said the move is a continuation of the company’s investment into US infrastructure so it could both ship and receive rail cars.

“This strategic move aligns with our vision to strengthen our relationships with U.S. producers and customers who prefer rail service,” Huber said. “We are currently in discussions with engineering firms with a proven track record in the railway industry to help us maximize this new opportunity.”

Huber said the company is actively seeking partnerships with businesses in the region interested in contract manufacturing, chemical transloading and packaging. A global manufacturer and supplier of chemical products and a provider of end-to-end industrial services, SMC in headquartered in New York City, NY and has manufacturing, warehousing and other facilities around the world, including Switzerland, Dubai, China, and Rio de Janeiro.
