Membership warehouse club Sam’s Club, a division of Walmart, plans to open distribution centers in Illinois and Minnesota in early 2024.

“We’re excited to extend our supply chain network and capabilities for our clubs and members in the region,” Joseph Godsey, Sam’s Club supply chain senior vice president, said. “We’re designing our supply chain network to strengthen our omni-channel experience and increase efficiencies and delivery speed to wherever our members decide to shop with us and receive their products.”

The centers are part of a multi-year growth plan to transform the company’s supply chain. They will allow for increased availability and speed of products in club and online.

The 370,000-square-foot Edwardsville, Ill., center will open in January and hiring begins this month. It will serve as a distribution center and fulfillment center, and will employ more than 100 people.

The 365,000-square-foot Shakopee, Minn., center will open in March and will employ more than 80 people. It will serve as a multipurpose distribution center. Hiring already has begun.

Sam’s Club also recently announced plans to open a fulfillment center in Lithia Springs, Ga., and a distribution center in Oklahoma City.

Sam’s Club has nearly 600 clubs in the continental United States and Puerto Rico.
