Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Financing Authority recently approved 116 new projects to receive more than $48 million through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF).

The projects are located in 45 counties and are intended to improve the state’s transportation infrastructure and provide safer, more reliable transportation.

“Investing in these critical improvements now will make the lives of our 12.8 million residents—and visitors—easier for years to come,” Gov. Tom Wolf said. “Pennsylvania is large, diverse, and well-traversed, and improving our roadways, bridges, and other infrastructure will ensure smoother, safer, and more accessible transportation options for all who travel within our commonwealth.”

Projects were awarded between $39,999 and $3 million.

Larger projects include Villanova University in Delaware County, which was awarded $3 million for the Lancaster Avenue pedestrian bridge; High Properties in Lancaster County, awarded $3 million for the Walnut Street extension and trail; and Millcreek Township in Erie County, awarded $2.5 million for Phase one of the Peninsula Drive multipurpose trail extension.

The MTF was established in 2013 to ensure the availability of safe and reliable transportation access statewide. It funds air transport, public transportation, rail, roads, walking and bike trails, and traffic safety.
