The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s (DNREC) Division of Climate, Coastal, and Energy recently announced it will continue to offer rebates through the Clean Transportation Incentive Program until Dec. 31, 2020.
“Reducing transportation-related emissions is key to reaching our greenhouse gas reduction goal,” DNREC Secretary Shawn M. Garvin said. “Electric vehicles are a smart choice for citizens and businesses alike, and the Clean Transportation Incentive Program is helping Delaware drivers change from fossil fuels to cleaner alternatives that reduce air pollution.”
Rebates are offered to drivers and businesses that purchase or lease electric and alternative fuel vehicles or charging stations. The rebates cover between 75 to 90 percent of the cost of a Level 2 charging station, $1,350 for a bi-fuel propane or natural gas vehicle, $1,500 for a dedicated propane or natural gas vehicle, and $20,000 for a heavy duty dedicated natural gas truck.
For 2020, rebates will cover $1,000 for plug-in hybrid vehicles and $2,500 for battery-electric vehicles with a purchase price of $60,000 or less. Rebates only will be available for battery and plug-in hybrids.
Rebates for charging stations will no longer be offered for single-family home charging stations.
The program, which launched in 2015, has provided $4.6 million in rebates to more than 1,500 purchasers.
