BNSF Railway, North America announced it had joined with integrated supply chain provider NFI to create a strategic partnership at the future Barstow International Gateway.

The announcement reinforces the two companies’ shared commitment to delivering innovative transportation, logistics and distribution solutions for customers across North America, officials said. The partnership will combine BNSF’s intermodal network and NFI’s supply chain expertise to create new opportunities for customers, while increasing efficiency and flexibility.

“Partnerships like this are critical to creating the supply chains of the future,” BNSF Group Vice President of Consumer Products Jon Gabriel said. “By combining BNSF’s intermodal network with NFI’s logistics expertise, we can help customers speed up their network, unlock new efficiencies while improving network resiliency with greater flexibility in how freight moves from origin to destination.”

Barstow International Gateway, in Southern California, is a planned integrated logistics hub that is designed to connect freight moving through the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to destinations across the U.S. The gateway will combine intermodal infrastructure with logistics park capabilities, and create opportunities for customers to streamline freight flows, improve supply chain performance and access markets through BNSF’s network. NFI’s logistics services and solutions will complement those capabilities, officials said.

“We’re thrilled to partner with BNSF to create opportunities for our customers to streamline their operations, pairing intermodal and transload solutions,” NFI CEO Sid Brown said. “Barstow International Gateway will expand our presence on the West Coast and create a cost-effective alternative for customers to transport freight from the ports to their next destination.”
