A new website marked an internet first this week, as National Grid created the first data-driven consumer research website meant to aid electric vehicle shoppers in their decisions.

National Grid Cars offers comparisons of all available cars and fuel types, ranking them by efficiency on a scale of 0 to 100. Additionally, shoppers can view information on manufacturer rebates, tax incentives and total cost of ownership beyond the purchase price, such as fuel and electricity costs. They teamed up with application developer Enervee to make it happen.

“We know that the costs associated with electric vehicles are a huge consideration for our customers and that switching away from the gas pump can be confusing at first,” Carlos Nouel, National Grid’s vice president of New Energy Solutions, said. “With National Grid Cars, we hope this will help our customers make the choice to switch to an electric vehicle.”

In addition to the ease of information presented on their new website, National Grid has long been committed to helping consumers “go electric” by increasing the number of electric vehicle charging stations and offering low-cost night-time charging.
