A new workshop from the Ports of Tacoma and Seattle, the Northwest Seaport Alliance, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection was recently designed to help veterans get jobs they need in the area.

The class, Guardians of the Gateway Veterans Career Workshop, couples training with expedited and preferential hiring options. The focus will be distinctly on seaport and airport jobs. The two-hour workshop is going to be offered at the Sea-Tac International Airport on Nov. 15.

As part of the workshop, employer representatives will be on hand to speak with veterans and transitioning military personnel regarding application processes, salaries, benefits, and other fine details of career opportunities, including currently open positions and options for growth.

Among those jobs available to veterans in attendance will be on-site police teams, such as K-9, dive team, bomb disposal or marine patrol operations, and container terminal security officers.
