Luxury rental car service Sixt Rent-a-Car recently announced the opening of a new location at the San Diego International Airport.

Former San Diego Mayor and current President of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Jerry Sanders led a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new location as a means of bolstering tourism throughout the San Diego area.

“San Diego is a huge market for leisure and tourism, and we’re thrilled to be present here,” Daniel Florence, co-president of Sixt USA, said. “Our team is actively engaging in the tourism and business community to learn what we can do to be a great local partner. Thanks to Jerry Sanders and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce for such a warm welcome, we can’t wait to add to an already great travel and business community.”

After entering the U.S. market in 2011 at the Miami International Airport with a fleet of approximately 500 vehicles, Sixt has since expanded to more than 50 locations throughout the country. The company most recently opened a newly-expanded space at its original Miami location in order to keep pace with demand.

The Pullach, Germany-based Sixt is represented in more than 100 countries worldwide and is currently the fifth largest car rental service in the United States.
