The Jacksonville Port (JAXPORT) Authority Board of Directors recently voted to hire Eric Green as CEO.

Executive search firm Korn Ferry, which was hired in June to find a new CEO, presented the directors with three finalists. While it recommended continuing with interviews, the directors opted to hold a vote at this month’s meeting.

Green has been employed by JAXPORT for 12 years. He joined the organization as the senior director of government and external affairs in 2005. In that role, he successfully gained authorization and funding for the Jacksonville Harbor Deepening project that will deepen the federal shipping channel to 47 feet.

He was named interim CEO in March.

“I’m very appreciative, I’m very grateful, and most of all, I’m very humbled by your selection today,” Green said. “I promise I will be as persistent and as creative for this port as I have been in the past.”

Prior to joining JAXPORT, Green worked for the City of Jacksonville, managing several city departments. He is a member of the Jacksonville and the Florida Chambers of Commerce.

The other finalists were Jonathan Daniels, CEO and executive director of the Mississippi State Port Authority, and Mike O’Malley, vice president of procurement and supply chain management at CSX.
