American Industrial Transport, Inc. (AITX) announced three executive leadership appointments it said will strengthen its leadership for the next phase of railcar solutions.
The organization said Peter Appel will take the helm as the next Chief Executive Officer, while Tim Kubiak will join AITX as the president and Chief Operating Officer and Eric Eng will take the position of Chief Strategy Officers. The organization said the new leadership would help it advance its strategy to “deliver more integrated railcar solutions that help freight shippers navigate increasingly dynamic supply chain logistics.”
Appel will lead that strategy. Since November 2025, he has served as AITX’s interim CEO. Prior to that, Appel spent 12 years as Managing Director, Head of Rail at ITE Management, overseeing the company’s rail platform and growing it into one of the largest railcar fleets in North America and Europe. He has also served on AITX’s Board of Directors for eight years, giving him familiarity with the business, its customers and the forces shaping its industry.
“AITX has built one of the most capable rail platforms in the industry, with the ability to support customers across virtually every part of the railcar lifecycle. Now, we want to make that experience as seamless and efficient as possible,” Appel said. “It’s what makes me most excited about our future.”
Kubiak will lead AITX’s commercial, operational and technology organizations with a focus on customer satisfaction, operational excellence and revenue growth. He has more than 20 years of experience leading complex rail businesses, most recently as president and CEO of Wells Fargo Rail Corporation and GE Capital Rail Services.
And as CSO, Eng will help shape AITX’s long-term strategy, identify opportunities for growth, and strengthen alignment across the business. He has worked closely with AITX for years, bringing a data-driven perspective to where the company can create value. Previously, he was at ITE Management as director of Rail Portfolio Management helping to guide key decisions across the company’s rail platform. He began his career at J.P. Morgan in business analytics, process improvement and financial analysis.
“Tim brings deep experience leading rail businesses at scale and getting the most out of both teams and systems. Eric has an intimate understanding of our strategy and where the next opportunities are. Together with the leadership team in place, we have the right people to raise the bar for what customers should expect from a railcar partner,” Appel said.
