OmniTrax announced it has debuted a new rail safety technology on its new affiliate– Central Texas and Colorado River Railway.

The track monitoring software will get its first use in Texas. The technology, Argus Track Measurement Technology, from Holland L.P., is an autonomous inspection system that continuously measures track conditions and identifies abnormalities in real time.

CTXR’s newly restored operations span nearly 50 miles in Central Texas and provide active freight rail service and Class I rail connections in Lometa, TX. OmniTrax’s service to the region has generated a surge in customer interest in rail shipping, officials with the company said. Holland’s technology will help CTXR operate its expanding freight volumes by minimizing service interruptions.

“Argus allows us to monitor track conditions in real time with each train movement, enhancing our industry-leading service reliability and rail delivery,” OmniTRAX President and COO Sergio Sabatini said. “We are deeply committed to the safety of our employees, customers, and the communities we serve, and this technology is a great investment in our collective operational safety.”

Officials with Holland said the technology captures real-time data across freight networks to monitor track safety and optimize track maintenance.

“Bringing autonomous track inspection to the CTXR is an exciting milestone for the Holland team,” Holland General Manager, RMSS, Erik Curran said. “OmniTRAX and CTXR share our commitment to innovation, safety, and operational excellence. By working together, our advanced autonomous inspection technology is providing CTXR continuous infrastructure insights that enhance safety and operational reliability along the entire line.”
