Europe-based GHH-BONATRANS, a railway component manufacturer, plans to build its first North American production facility in Wayland, N.Y.
Bonatrans North America will begin building the up to $93 million facility later this year. The facility will build and service railway wheelsets, axles and related components for rolling stock customers. By establishing a presence in North America, the company can better serve its customers in the United States and Canada.
“Establishing manufacturing operations in Wayland reflects our commitment to supporting customers closer to where they operate — in New York state, across the United States, and throughout the broader North American region,” Jiří Kaleta, Bonatrans North America president and CEO, said. “Proximity enables better understanding of local needs, faster response times, and the ability to deliver solutions that create real value for our partners.”
Operations are expected to begin in late 2028.
Bonatrans North America will receive up to $1.25 million in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit Program in exchange for job creation commitments.
The Steuben County Industrial Development Agency received a $16.9 million POWER UP grant to support growth at Wayland Business Park where the facility will be located.
GHH-BONATRANS serves customers in more than 80 countries and comprises BONATRANS GROUP.
