NJ TRANSIT, the largest statewide public transportation system in the United States, recently completed exterior renovations on Mahwah Station.

“With exterior upgrades now in place, Mahwah Station is already offering our customers a safer, more welcoming and more inviting space,” NJ TRANSIT President and CEO Kris Kolluri said. “It’s just one example of over 20 NJ TRANSIT station projects currently in progress, all aimed at strengthening the customer experience through thoughtful, long-term investment.”

The Mahwah renovation project will modernize the station, enhance safety and provide aesthetic upgrades that improve functionality and structural integrity.

Completed work includes partial stucco and brick repairs, the installation of new architectural railings, the relocation of electrical equipment, refurbished stairs, minor lighting upgrades, refreshed landscaping, a new concrete apron, the installation of upgraded information displays, improved site drainage, new bike racks, and the replacement of the station roof, retaining wall and a stairway.

Train service was not interrupted while work was in progress.

The project is part of the agency’s commitment to preserve critical transportation assets and improve the travel experience.

NJ TRANSIT operates 165 rail stations, 62 light rail stations and more than 19,000 bus stops linking major points in New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia.
