The State Transportation Board of Georgia elected its next executive leadership team at its August 21 board meeting.
Jamie Boswell becomes chair. He represents Georgia’s 10th Congressional District and was first elected to the board in 2013. He is president and owner of the Boswell Group, that includes insurance, real estate and appraisal companies. He previously served as vice chairman and secretary.
Dennis McEntire becomes vice chair. He represents Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District. He has had a career in public service and infrastructure. He served as Newnan Utilities general manager and also is involved in numerous community organizations.
Tim Golden becomes secretary. He represents Georgia’s 8th Congressional District and was first elected to the board in 2015. He has a background in government and spent 10 years as a congressional assistant to former U.S. Rep. Charles Hatcher (D-GA). Golden was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1990 and served for eight years. Between 1998 and 2014, he served as a Georgia state senator before retiring.
The 14-member board governs the Georgia Department of Transportation and determines policy. Board members serve staggered, five-year terms. Georgia General Assembly members elect board members by a caucus for their congressional districts.
