USDOT awards more than $3.2B in grants to 180 nationwide projects

The U.S. Department of Transportation recently awarded 180 projects nationwide more than $3.2 billion in grants.

The largest grant, $550 million, was awarded to Alabama’s I-10 Mobile River bridge and Bayway multimodal project. The project will replace the existing Bayway Bridges and will bypass two aging tunnels.

Funds were distributed through various programs including:

The Federal Aviation Administration awarded three projects $1.95 million through the Airport Improvement Program and awarded 33 projects $277.1 million through the Airport Terminal Program.

The Federal Highway Administration awarded one project $342,000 through the National Scenic Byway Program and 17 projects $1.4 billion through the Bridge Investment Program.

The Federal Railroad Administration awarded one project $2.4 million through Special Transportation Circumstances, two projects $4 million through the Corridor Identification and Development Program, 14 projects $25 million through Railroad Crossing Elimination, one project $30 million through Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail, and six projects $221 million through Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements.

The Federal Transit Administration awarded six projects $3.5 million through Tribal Transit and awarded 30 projects $494 million through Low or No Emission (Bus) Grants.

The Maritime Administration awarded one project $38 million through the Transportation Demonstration Program and two projects $70 million through the Port Infrastructure Development Program.
