Frontier Airlines plans to expand service out of Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) in May.

Beginning on May 16, service will be available from PIT to Philadelphia International Airport twice daily and from PIT to Dallas-Fort Worth three times a week.

Beginning on May 17, service will be available from PIT to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport four times a week and from PIT to Raleigh-Durham International Airport four times a week.

“Pittsburgh International Airport is an important economic engine and gateway for Western Pennsylvania – and this expanded service is a significant step forward as we connect Pennsylvania travelers, tourists, and businesses to the rest of the country,” Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said.

The Shapiro Administration plans to invest more than $2 million in Aviation Transportation Assistance Program funds in Allegheny County, the location of PIT.

Pennsylvania airports will receive more than $70 million annually through 2026 from the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

In Pennsylvania, the aviation industry employs more than 226,000 people and has an economic impact of more than $34 billion annually, according to a 2019 study.

Frontier’s expansion is forecasted to bring $72 million in economic impact to the Pittsburgh region and will increase Frontier’s presence in Pittsburgh by 600 percent.
