Orwigsburg, Pa.-based Clearly Clean Products, LLC announced it had launched two new 100 percent recyclable, overwrap food trays Tuesday – one for meatballs and the other for patties.
The trays add to the company’s recyclable rolled-edge food tray line made from PET, the same material in recyclable water bottles.
“We are excited to add two more trays to our already robust line, which now totals 21 trays,” Michael Hoppes, engineering manager at Clearly Clean, said. “We already have several clients looking to purchase the new trays, so they will be on grocery store shelves soon!”
The company said trays allow companies to reduce product loss and increase customer satisfaction, make an easy change from polystyrene, maximize shelf appeal and provide a rolling edge to alleviate film tears. The meatball tray has 12 pockets, while the patty tray has two cells, the company said.
Products can be customized in terms of size, thickness, shape and color, officials said, allowing the product to stand out more to consumers. Clearly Clean said its patented rolled, smooth edge prevents the overwrap from tearing, reducing waste.
Demand for eco-friendly packaging due to numerous citywide and countywide bans on polystyrene, as well as consumer pressure and corporate sustainability goals, drove the creation of the product, officials said.
Clearly Clean said it is committed to developing sustainable products and to creating eco-friendly products with feature that surpass their non-sustainable alternatives.
