American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) recently partnered with SERJON, a boutique consulting firm, to offer commercial vehicle cybersecurity training to TMC, ATA and other ATA Council members.

SERJON designed a module-based cybersecurity training program for small- and medium-sized businesses. It includes eight lessons covering topics such as cybersecurity basics, cyber threats and risks, firewalls and endpoint protection, equipment setup and configuration.

The series, Defending Heavy-Duty Vehicles, includes a lesson addressing the unique cybersecurity threats against trucking companies and heavy vehicles, general concepts and strategies for risk mitigation, and how to get help if a vehicle experiences a cyber attack. Threats include general RF attacks, Bluetooth, USB drives, telematics/ELD devices, HD radio, bring-your-own-devices, and maintenance system/tools and service providers.

“The ‘Defending Heavy-Duty Vehicles’ module was created specifically with ATA/TMC members in mind,” TMC Executive Director Robert Braswell said. “It provides members access to this valuable resource to help improve the industry’s technical knowledge, foundational skills, and eliminate knowledge and skills gaps in specific areas and better protect member companies and their critical assets.”

ATA, TMC and ATA Council members will receive an invitation to register at a discounted rate.

ATA has more than 37,000 members representing the trucking industry.
