The U.S. Department of Transportation recently awarded Camden City, N.J., a $25 million Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act for improving infrastructure between the Port of Camden and Interstate-676.

The project will expand access to the Port of Camden and help revitalize the regional economy.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation also has contributed $36.5 million to the project.

“Improving roadway safety and truck access to the Port of Camden is a game changer for the quality of life and economy in Camden City and our region,” U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross (D-NJ) said. “This project will ease traffic around the port and divert truck traffic off community roads, promote economic growth, and help businesses bring goods to market. It will also put people to work, both on this project directly and indirectly, by increasing the port’s capacity to move cargo. I voted for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to create good-paying jobs and strengthen our economy, and now we are seeing this funding coming to our community to improve South Jersey’s roadways and ports.”

Norcross also recently joined local leaders to announce the widening of the Atlantic City Expressway from mile marker 31 westbound to the Route 42 terminus to three lanes.
