A total of 81 percent of travelers are confident that airports and airlines provide a safe environment for passengers, according to a recent Airports Council International (ACI) World report, compared to 74 percent a year ago.

Most travelers expect airports to provide measures that keep them feeling safe, but this has shifted from masks to enhanced cleanliness.

Travelers are the most concerned about increased costs, 77 percent, and complexity, 75 percent, related to air travel.

In 2021-2022, 76 percent of pre-pandemic travelers planned to travel, and 68 percent did. In 2023, 86 recently plan to travel by air.

“While COVID-19 variants remain a concern for travelers, this year’s report provides new insights to understand current passenger expectations, refine their airport journey, and ensure that their needs are met,” ACI World Director General Luis Felipe de Oliveira said.

This is the third annual Airport Service Quality (ASQ) report. It includes t e results of the ASQ Global Traveller Survey that sought the views of people who traveled at least annually before the pandemic and either began traveling again or plan to travel again in the future.

The survey’s results offer a global perspective with similarities and differences between regions.
