The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) recently launched CTroads, the new name of CT Travel Smart, an online traffic map initially established in 2017.

The agency said that the new name clearly reflects the purpose of roadway travel and is easy to remember.

“CTDOT is proud to provide commuters CTroads.org,” CTDOT Commissioner Joe Giulietti said. “It is innovative and its technology helps keep Connecticut moving with real-time alerts and personalized route tracking. CTroads may be the new name, but the technology is the same great service people rely on every day. And we’re happy to say that CT Travel Smart subscribers are already CTroads subscribers without lifting a finger.”

The service provides real-time travel information in a customizable way. It offers features such as trip planning, weather alerts and radar, ferry status updates, construction updates, a list of all message signs around the state, a view of all traffic cameras, and subscription services.

Data collected from the CTDOT Statewide Intelligent Transportation System Network and Highway Operations Center was incorporated into the system.

The CTroads.org website came online Tuesday and is free to use on all devices.

Users can register for custom alerts sent by email or text message. CT Travel Smart subscribers do not need to re-register.
