The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation recently awarded 70 municipalities more than $37.8 million through the Green Light-Go program for fiscal year 2022-23 to support traffic signal upgrades.

The grants are reimbursement for updates that improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. Improvements include upgrading traffic signals to the latest technologies, traffic signal retiming, developing special event plans and monitoring traffic signals, and installing light-emitting diode (LED) technology.

“The safety improvements supported by the Green Light-Go program help municipalities relieve congestion and traffic flow, as well as keep Pennsylvanians moving safely and efficiently,” Gov. Tom Wolf said. “I’m proud to help our communities improve mobility for Pennsylvanians.”
