U.S. Rep. Young Kim (R-CA) met with local officials in Diamond Bar, Calif., this week to discuss work on the 57/60 Freeway Confluence Project.

Kim met with Diamond Car Mayor Nancy Lyons, Mayor Pro Tem Ruth Low, Councilmembers Steve Tye and Andrew Shou, City of Industry Mayor Cory Moss, and Industry Mayor Pro Tem Cathy Marcucci.

“Improving the 57/60 Confluence would reduce traffic, enhance safety and ensure the flow of goods and services in this vital trade corridor, impacting our local, regional, and national economy,” Kim said. “Since coming to Congress, I’ve made securing funding for this project a top priority by requesting funding and educating my colleagues on the impacts of the Confluence in CA-39. I enjoyed meeting with local officials to discuss the project and will continue to do all I can to fight for the needs of CA-39 communities in Congress.”

Kim’s work toward the project includes requesting federal funding for the project as part of the FY22 appropriations, leading a bipartisan letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to request grant funding for the project, and advocating on the need to support the project in a bipartisan infrastructure package to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

“It is amazing to see how much [Rep. Kim] has accomplished in such a short period of time. I know there’s a lot going on in Washington right now, so it means a lot to us that [she’s] made this project one of [her] biggest priorities and have been such a strong advocate for us in Congress,” Moss said. “We greatly appreciate [Rep. Kim’s] deep understanding of these challenges and willingness to help us secure the resources that we need to address them.”
