As part of its long-range planning effort, the Pittsburgh Port Authority is now engaging its riders to tell the agency how transit can help them get to where they want to go.

After successfully engaging the public to tell the agency where riders want to go, now the agency wants to get input from the public on how future transit services can best serve their needs.

The public can give their input by participating in one of three online meetings at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 17 and 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 18.

“A few months ago, we asked you to think about the ways in which we can improve transit to better our communities and our region,” said Port Authority CEO Katharine Kelleman. “The time has come to tell us. No idea is too small, no dream is too big.”

The transit agency launched NEXTransit on June 1 to get community feedback on where service should go, who it should serve, when it should operate and what projects should be given priority over the next 25 years.

The information the Port Authority receives will be a guide to meeting the community’s vision for what they see public transportation needs to be in the area over the coming decades, the agency said.

Residents and others can access online meetings through the NEXTransit website. Those without internet access can access the meetings through the phone by calling 1-855-925-2801 and entering the access code 8342 during the specified times.
