The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has drafted a five-year transportation plan covering 2020 through 2024, and now they want to hear the public’s thoughts on their proposal.

Such drafts update annually. The invitation for public comment will focus on a document covering mobility initiatives, revenues, and specific state projects. Commentary will be accepted until Aug. 30 through the MDOT website, where residents can also view the location, description, and proposed construction year for upcoming projects.

The draft was submitted to the State Transportation Commission last month and will remain a draft until approved. Its five years of potential call for an integrated multi-modal program, system preservation, and safety efforts. The draft also includes various investment strategies, a list of upcoming road and bridge projects, funding assumptions and the economic benefits of the state’s different transportation modes.
