Under a new collaboration agreement between Electrify America and ChargePoint, drivers covered by either network will be able to charge electric vehicles on their public chargers without additional hassle.
Hassle includes either having to start new accounts or dealing with added fees. That, the two companies said, will expand electric vehicle charging access throughout the United States. For the companies’ customers, it will open the door to more than 30,000 Level 2 and DC fast chargers.
“With the two largest EV charging service providers in the U.S. reaching this agreement, we can help expedite electric vehicle adoption by creating a seamless and reliable charging experience for consumers,” Giovanni Palazzo, president and CEO of Electrify America, said. “By connecting our public charging networks, we increase the convenience and accessibility EV drivers need to travel where they want when they want.”
With electric vehicle continuing to take an ever-increasing share of the market, it essentially cuts down on traditional barriers to use and makes them more travel-capable, which increases their viability in the market.
“This roaming agreement further accelerates the seamless integration of individual EV fueling networks and brings us even closer to the day when the movement of all goods and people will be powered by electricity,” Pasquale Romano, president and CEO of ChargePoint, Inc, said. “Partnerships like this make transitioning to electric drive easier than continuing to use fossil fuels.
