The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) recently announced it awarded a performance-based maintenance contract to DCS Asset Maintenance to enhance the safety, appearance and reliability of more than 800 lane miles of roadway in Shelby and Fayette counties. The five-year contract has the option for two additional two-year extensions and allows TDOT crews to focus on broader system improvements and long-term infrastructure needs.

The contract covers key interstate routes such as I-40, I-55, I-240, and I-269, and state routes 300 and 385. DCS will provide drainage improvements, graffiti removal, guardrail repairs, litter removal, mowing, pothole repairs, signage upkeep, snow and ice response, sweeping, and 24/7 incident support. DCS will be required to meet TDOT-defined standards.

“This performance‑based maintenance partnership reflects TDOT’s commitment to providing cleaner, safer, and more reliable roadways across West Tennessee,” TDOT Commissioner Will Reid said. “This $60 million investment — made possible by Gov. (Bill) Lee and the General Assembly — will bring meaningful improvements for motorists traveling through Shelby and Fayette Counties.”

The agreement took effect in January and work is scheduled to begin April 5.

DCS will hire and partner with area subcontractors.

The contract is part of TDOT’s commitment to provide motorists with clean, safe, and dependable roadways.
