U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy recently signed a memorandum authorizing a series of actions that rescind policies enacted under the Biden-Harris Administration.

The memo directs secretarial officers and heads of operating administrations to identify and eliminate Biden-era activities, programs, policies, rules and orders that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, climate change activism, environmental justice, gender identity policies, racial equity, and other partisan objectives.

Duffy also signed an order directing all U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) policies, grants, loans, and actions be based on pro-economic growth priorities, positive cost-benefit analyses, and sound economic principles.

Duffy approved a notice of proposed rulemaking submission that will rescind a Biden-Harris Administration rule requiring state transportation departments to establish and measure carbon dioxide emissions reduction targets on federally supported highways.

“Today’s actions mark an important step in restoring commonsense governance and merit-based policies at USDOT,” Duffy said. “Under President (Donald) Trump’s leadership, we are focused on eliminating excessive regulations that have hindered economic growth, increased costs for American families, and prioritized far-left agendas over practical solutions. The American people deserve an efficient, safe, and pro-growth transportation system based on sound decision-making, not political ideologies. These actions will help us deliver on that promise.”
