The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking public input regarding its Human Services Transportation Plan, noting that the effort would help determine future investments in communities statewide.
Following the Stay Home – Stay Healthy order issued March 23, public participation will occur via an online open house through Dec. 22, with materials available in English, Spanish and Russian.
Free, temporary internet access is available statewide. The service is provided for those who wish to participate but do not have broadband service. The nearest Drive-In WiFi Hotspot can be located by visiting the Washington State Department of Commerce website.
WSDOT maintains the plan identifies gaps and barriers, creating mobility challenges for those with special transportation needs, and develops strategies to address those barriers. While the agency relies on input from subject matter experts, transportation providers, social-service organizations, and other stakeholders, it is the perspective of the riders and others in the public whose viewpoints often prove to be the most insightful.
WSDOT seeks to finalize and publish the plan in early 2021 and indicated participants would have the opportunity to learn about the plan and how community input shapes it and confirm community needs and strategies to meet those needs. The statewide plan is expected to guide planning efforts at the local and regional levels.
