The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) recently appointed Timothy McClees vice president for legislative affairs.
The position is responsible for AIA’s advocacy work with Congress members and their staff and legislative policy, and reports to the AIA president and CEO.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to join the dedicated men and women at AIA,” McClees said. “As new technologies open doors in the aerospace and defense industry, it’s essential that we collaborate with government more closely than ever if we want to deliver on the promise of these innovations. I look forward to facilitating that collaboration on behalf of our member companies.”
McClees served for 10 years in the U.S. Army as an intelligence analyst before moving to civilian defense.
His more than three decades of experience includes roles as chief of staff to the deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, deputy staff director for the House Armed Services Committee, and chief of staff at Laurel Strategies.
Most recently, McClees managed U.S. Air Force intelligence and data storage for Virginia-based defense firm Peraton.
McClees’ experience and strong relationships in the aerospace and defense sector make him the best choice for the position, AIA President and CEO Eric Fanning said.
