The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) recently urged Senate to confirm Kimberly Reed who has been nominated as the U.S. Export-Import Bank’s (EXIM) president and chairwoman of the board of directors.
EXIM is an independent federal agency that helps bolster U.S. job growth.
Reed is the former president of the International Food Information Council Foundation and also has worked for the Treasury Department, Lehman Brothers, and as counsel to three House committees.
She currently sits on the boards of directors for the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Swiss Foundation and is the first elected chairwoman of the Republican National Lawyers Association.
“The EXIM Bank is incredibly important to our industry’s competitiveness in the global market,” AIA President and CEO Eric Fanning said. “More than $40 billion in American exports have been stalled while we wait on these nominations. We need the bank to offset our foreign competitors’ advantage so our industry can grow manufacturing jobs in the United States.”
Reed understands the critical role the bank plays in supporting American manufacturers, the AIA said.
If confirmed, Reed would serve a four-year term.
The AIA also supports the nominations of Spencer Bachus, Judith DelZoppo Pryor, and Claudia Slacik to the bank’s board of directors.
